Mr Gordon Powell is a senior commercial professional with over 30 years’ experience in global life sciences focusing mainly on the IVD point of care sector but has also worked in other areas of life sciences. Most recently, Mr Powell was Chief Commercial Officer at genedrive plc., the in-vitro diagnostics company based in Manchester, UK, which manufactures the Genedrive point of care instrument and associated molecular assays. Before joining genedrive, Mr Powell was the Chief Executive Officer at Qnostics Ltd., a molecular control company, and prior to that was the Group Marketing Director of Axis-Shield, in London, UK, responsible for company strategy and direction as well as global sales of the Afinion POC system. It was as Marketing Director at Axis-Shield US that Mr Powell helped launch the highly successful Afinion point of care system, initially through Abbott Diagnostics and then through Axis-Shield’s own sales force and PSS. Prior to that he was responsible for the strategic account management for the £9M business which included the Axis-Shield patented Homocysteine, Anti-CCP and Active B12 assays working with Abbott, Bayer, DPC and many more. Mr Powell also has held an advisory position at biosurfit, based in Lisbon, Portugal, where he helped the company raise a €12M investment from the European Investment Bank (EIB).
