Description
The Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), also known as human herpesvirus 4 (HHV-4), formally called Human gammaherpesvirus 4, is one of the nine known human herpesvirus types. EBV has two major types: EBV type 1 (EBV-1) and EBV type 2 (EBV-2). EBV-type 1 is the most common type of EBV worldwide; EBV-type 2 accounts for a smaller proportion of EBV infections in humans.
The EBV peptide pool contains 44 peptides (8-21mer) from Human herpesvirus 4 (Epstein Barr virus), MHC class–I & II. Peptide sequences as T cell epitopes are collected from the Glycoprotein, EBNA-3A and 3B, membrane protein, BARF1 protein, LMP1 protein and others.
The purity of each peptide is ≥95% (HPLC-MS).
Application
The in-vitro stimulation of Peripheral Blood Mononuclear Cells (PBMCs) with EBV ImmuneSelect activates memory T cells specific to the virus, leading to cytokine secretion and the increased expression of specific surface markers. These biomarkers can be detected using various techniques: ELISpot kits quantify cytokine-producing cells, while flow cytometry measures cells expressing these specific surface markers.
